The “beautiful crossing” at the end of her mother’s life, in a resort-like setting

2021-09-07

Hour after hour, never leaving her side, falling asleep next to her, being with her until the very end.

This is how Anick Robillard remembers the last moments with her mother at the Residence in 2018.

She speaks of the love she and her family received while at this Residence that she calls a “resort.”

“The only thing we can be sure of in life is that, someday, we’ll be gone. It has to be a beautiful crossing,” she said during a phone conversation.

Anick will be taking part in the Residence’s annual Walk with family and friends. Her team, Les Volontaires, has already collected over $1,250.

As she walks for the Residence, she’ll most likely be remembering the precious moments during her mother's stay, such as the harpist's magnificent music, her mother's soothing candle-lit baths to the sound of music and the physical comfort and psychological support the members of the family received.

And maybe, as she recalled during our conversation, the music her mother had chosen to accompany her on her last journey.
